Ah, Jeez-

Kurt Vonnegut died. My favorite author when I was in my 20's, I couldn't get enough of his work.
Odd that he married a photographer - Sondhiem did that as well. She's a kick ass photographer too - here's a great one of hers- I know I would never have known enough about shutter and film speeds to get this shot-

Dear Mr. Fozzy Bear:

John Coyle. Randomly stumbled on this blog, small world. It's been a while, just checking in. Since I am replying to this thread, I'll give my take on this great loss.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Kurt many years ago. He was very friendly andfunny, but he carried the same life weariness and sadness that was probably the most dominant character in his work. It was as if the conversations over the chessboard in Mother Night were taken verbatim from his life. Of course, if I was in Dresden I might feel the same way. He was asked why he seems to end the world in most of his books. His answer was that when he looks into the future with his books he found it hard to see it turning out any other way.

As an aside, I had the great pleasure of listing Bokonan as my religious preference on my college housing application...worked out for me because I was given a single room. Can't tell if it was by someone who appreciated it or was scared. Either way.
