Capitalist Tool 2
Another image that fell out of copyright/trademark. Originally created by Harvey Ball, he got 45 smackers for it. Endlessly used and abused, I'm sure the fact that no one has to pay Harvey a thin dime for it has nothing to do with it's ubiquity.
At least Thomas Crapper got paid for the ballcock.
Capitalist Tool
I find it endlessly fascinating: If you decide that you want to release your control over the copyright for something, it serves to earn endless amounts of cash for other people. Alberto Korda really deserves a few bucks for lending the endless use of his photo to people who were more than happy to pocket 100% of the proceeds. I think the minute he exerts control over his copyright, it would all grind to a halt, since "revolutionaries" don't typically like to split the profits.
I also like the fact that a ruthless child-man murderer can become someone's hero. All in the context, I guess.

Drink up, Artists!
After San Diego Con, we are giving some thought to the fetishism of the self-destructive impulse in art. It'd be funny, if it weren't so true.
Drink up artists! Reduce your output!

Gee, it's like Barack Obama is already president...
Between the new timeline for withdrawal of American forces currently being hammered out with Iraq, the scheduled return of American diplomats in Iran and this weekend's meeting with Iranians by the number 3 in the State Department, it's like Barack Obama's already president.Thursday, July 17, 2008

More Legion-
I don't normally do commissions, ( I don't normally have very much free time), but I was able to sneak in a commission for a nice fellow in Australia. 3 Legionnaires!

Donate to the Hero Initiative!
I'll be doing sketches for the Hero Initiative in San Diego. If you can't make it to San Diego, please make a donation at the Hero Initiative website. It's for a good cause, and they've already helped out a lot of folks through the donations from people like you.Sunday, July 13, 2008

Legion of Comic Con!
As it stands now, I'll be heading down to Comic con for Wednesday only, doing sketches for the Hero Initiative charity from 6:30 to 7:30pm. I don't think I'm going for any other days, although I'll leave it open for getting roped into a Legion thing or two. It's the Legion's 50th Anniversary.I wish I could talk about this Legion of 3 Worlds book. It's so much more than anybody expects, it's chock full of just the best work that Geoff Johns and George Perez have ever done, and it's such a joy to be working on this thing. Every time I think I've got a favorite moment in the book, it just gets topped by the next page.

Sunday night exhaustion
For the last few years the weekends have been my busiest times, as I try and get whatever work I've got to finish done for my editors to put into the pipeline on Monday. Sunday nights and Thursday nights are my crunch-times, and I'm just shot tonight- let's just say I've been spoiled working over George, but I'll be free of my temporary burden on Monday night and it'll be back to happily inking a gazillion Legionnaires.Katie goes in for oral surgery tomorrow, a terrible procedure that promises to rival the horrors of Lovecraft. Wish her luck.

Heaven's population remains unchanged-
But Hell's got some fresh meat.He did a nice thing by adopting a child in need though, so maybe just a long stint in purgatory?
I think Limbo's still abolished...

And a hearty hello my new blog readers!
And a hearty hello to my new blog readers in the so-called intelligence community! Keywords are sooooo useful in ascertaining intent, don't you think?
Stick around - buy a comic for your kids- might I recommend the upcoming Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds? It'll knock your socks off!
Oh, Sorry!
What I meant to say in my last post was -hey! The Captain America trade paperback is out this week, pick it up-WTF
WTFJust in passing he mentioned on Fresh Air that in the last few years we've trained and armed terrorists with ties to Al Queda in NEVADA. And they call Obama a terrorist? When this administration is TRAINING and FUNDING Sunni insurgents with ties to Al Queda for operations in Iran. That is some sick joke.
Burn in hell, Mr. Cheney.
